Ingredients
1 loaf of brioche or challah bread, cut into cubes
1 cup Nutella (or more for extra richness)
5 large eggs
1 ½ cups whole milk
½ cup heavy cream
⅓ cup granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Fresh strawberries or raspberries for garnish
Melted chocolate for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Cut the bread into cubes and set aside.
- Warm the Nutella in the microwave for easier spreading, then drizzle or spread half of it over half of the bread cubes. Top with the remaining bread cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread layers, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Gently press down with a spatula to help the bread absorb the liquid.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Once baked, dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with melted chocolate (optional), and garnish with fresh berries.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
