Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 cup mushrooms, chopped (optional)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
1 egg
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
Fresh chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a loaf pan.
- Sauté onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms in a bit of oil until softened. Let cool.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed veggies, salt, pepper, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix gently.
- Press half the meat mixture into the loaf pan. Add half the mozzarella and provolone cheeses as a middle layer.
- Add the rest of the meat mixture on top and smooth it out.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Sprinkle remaining cheese on top in the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley.
