1 large onion, finely chopped

3 garlic cloves, minced

2 tablespoons Hungarian sweet paprika

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 cup chicken broth

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup sour cream

2 teaspoons flour (optional, for thickening)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked egg noodles or dumplings (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil or butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Sear chicken pieces until browned on all sides, then remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, cook onions until translucent and golden, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Take the pan off the heat, stir in paprika and tomato paste, then return to low heat.
