Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 1 box white cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box: eggs, oil, water)
For the Strawberry Filling:
- 1 box (3 oz) strawberry gelatin (Jell-O or any brand)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
For the Topping:
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (Cool Whip or homemade)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2 tablespoons strawberry jam or glaze (optional, for added shine)
Instructions
- Bake the Cake – Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions. Pour the batter into the dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 15-20 minutes.
-
Poke the Cake – Use the handle of a wooden spoon or a straw to poke holes across the entire cake, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
-
Prepare the Gelatin – In a bowl, dissolve strawberry gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved, then add 1/2 cup of cold water and mix well.
-
Pour the Gelatin Over the Cake – Slowly pour the gelatin mixture over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the gelatin is fully set.
-
Add the Topping – Once chilled, spread the whipped topping evenly over the cake. Arrange fresh strawberry slices on top and brush with strawberry jam or glaze for extra shine (optional).
-
Serve & Enjoy! – Slice into squares and serve chilled for the best flavor and texture.
